Reality—Carnal or Spiritual?
This powerful teaching confronts us with a life-altering question: Are we living from a carnal reality or a spiritual one? Drawing from the dramatic account in Acts 5 of Ananias and Sapphira, we're challenged to examine which realm truly dominates our thinking. While Barnabas demonstrated spirit-led generosity by selling his land and giving the proceeds to the apostles, this couple chose deception, keeping back part of their gift while pretending full surrender. Their story isn't just ancient history—it's a mirror reflecting our own tendency to operate from what we see, feel, and experience rather than from God's truth. The sobering reality is that a carnal mind equals death, while a spiritual mind brings life and peace. We're reminded that being carnally minded doesn't always mean living in obvious sin; it often means allowing our circumstances, emotions, and natural senses to speak louder than God's word. When feelings lead us instead of the Spirit, when our bank account screams louder than God's promises, when we hit snooze on prayer time because our body demands comfort—we're operating carnally. The invitation here is clear: intentionally renew our minds daily, die to self-centered thinking, and allow the Holy Spirit to lead every area of life, from our marriages and parenting to our work and giving.
