The Beatitudes Pt. 4

Aug 2, 2026  •  Pastor John Greer

What does it truly mean to be a peacemaker? In this powerful exploration of Matthew 5:9-10, we discover that peacemaking is far more than keeping the peace or avoiding conflict. It is an active, courageous calling to step into broken situations and bring God's order and truth into them. The Greek word for peacemaker carries the weight of someone who actively produces reconciliation and restoration, and that distinction changes everything. Peacekeepers keep the mask on. Peacemakers uncover the truth. As we dig into this Beatitude, we are reminded that Jesus himself is the ultimate peacemaker, the one who bridged the gap between humanity and God, and we are called to reflect that same heart in our relationships, our communities, and our world. When we help restore what is broken, heal what is divided, and bring people back together, we are doing more than resolving conflict. We are representing the King. This message challenges us to honestly ask ourselves a simple but penetrating question: when we walk into a room or a situation, do we bring peace or confusion?
